It should also state what is excluded. Common variables include difficult ground, rock excavation, dewatering, retaining work, restricted site access, crane or pump hire, landscaping repairs, drainage beyond the pool area, utility upgrades and estate or authority fees. The quote should name the equipment brands or minimum specifications rather than using vague phrases such as "standard pump".
Agree the payment stages, programme, warranty, defect process and responsibility for subcontractors before work begins. Ask how variations will be priced and approved. Comparing detailed scopes instead of totals helps reveal why one quote is cheaper and gives the homeowner a clearer basis for managing the project.
